Bach started his career as a theatre actor in Heiner Mueller’s Prometheus in 1978. After that he acted in several independent theatre companies which brought him to New York, London, Amsterdam and Brussels. He made his debut as a comedian in the 1980s which earned him his own comedy show in TV in 1992. He became well known as a TV host for shows like the German version of I’m a celebrity get me out of here!.
Bach gave his voice to several cartoon characters and played a character in Sesamstreet as well as recording audiobooks by Terry Pratchett and Franz Kafka.
He married his partner in Key West in 1999, their marriage was not acknowledged in Germany at the time and Bach became an advocate for marriage equality in Germany. He became an honorary member of the AIDS Hilfe in Cologne (an organisation which supports people suffering from HIV and AIDS) and regularly donated money to several of their projects.
Bach died of a heart disease in 2012.
